Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular
Celebrate America’s independence in the city that never sleeps with an extravagant fireworks display.
The 47th annual Macy’s 4th of July fireworks display is returning for 2024 on Thursday, July 4. At approximately 9:15 p.m., hundreds of thousands of shells will be blasted into the air from five barges, creating a 30-minute display that will light up the night.
The show typically sets the sky alight over the East River, and this year is no exception. In special cases, Macy’s chooses a different body of water, like the Hudson River in 2009 to commemorate Henry Hudson’s discovery.
This year’s show will be paired with a score featuring American classics to “honor trailblazers that have forged our past, present and future,” according to executive producer Will Coss.
Special this year will be a tribute to Tina Turner called Macy’s Golden Mile with spectacular golden-hued shells that will stretch for more than a mile across the East River to “The Best.”
There will also be a star-studded televised special airing from 8 pm – 10 pm that will feature performances from some of your favorite artists. If you can’t be there in person, you can watch from home!

Join the millions of spectators who will be watching the fireworks from the shores of the East River, between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Watch along FDR Drive in Manhattan including, East 23rd Street, East 34th Street, and East 42nd Street. In Brooklyn, some of the suggested viewing spots are Marsha P.
