Nightclub History

The Pickle Barrel Nightclub is one of the most storied buildings in the area. In the 1960s, the Pickle Barrel, known then as the Sugar Shack, began as a rustic dance hall. It offered a gathering place for locals during peak skiing times. Then, it turned into Showcase East where it served libations and movies. In 1971, local entrepreneur Jack Giguere acquired it by crashing his car into the front door. After repairing the entrance, he renamed the club, and thus, the entertainment scene in Central Vermont was redefined.
