Mohonk Mountain House is a Victorian castle resort perched on a lake, nestled within 40,000 acres of pristine woodlands.

Accommodations

Mohonk Mountain House perfectly blends modern luxuries with a uniquely beautiful 19th-century decor. Rooms and suites offer lake and mountain-side views exclusive to the stunning Hudson Valley Region. The resort also includes four rustic cottages and the Grove Lodge, an enormous retreat. The lodge has six guest rooms, stone fireplaces, a heated indoor pool, and a 1,080 square-foot “Great Room.”

Activities

There are also an immense amount of activities available at the Mohonk Mountain House! The resort rewards those seeking a classic mountain experience with campsites, hiking trails, fishing spots, bike paths and archery equipment. There are also a variety of sports guests can play, such as; basketball, tennis, golf, and billiards. The House History tour and entrance to the Barn Museum are both included with one’s stay, appealing to history buffs and those interested in the Hudson Valley alike. Perhaps one of the most unique features to the Mohonk Mountain House however, is their use of the reserve on-site. The daily schedule includes a range of nature tours, such as the Mohonk Birds of Winter tour, Sky Top Nature Hikes and The Art of Aidless Navigation Tour, just to name a few. Through using its distinct landscape in so many activities the Mohonk Mountain House makes for a truly unforgettable trip.

Winter Activities

The winter activities at Mohonk Mountain House are a highlight amidst the reserves many offerings. During the colder months, you can experience the trails on foot or by snowshoe and cross country skis. These snow-covered trails offer a winter wonderland like no other, especially when you can get a view of the scenic resort. Ice skating is also inclusive with an overnight stay at Mohonk, or can be purchased by day visitors for $30 per person Monday-Friday or $35 per person on the weekend. And in case that wasn’t enough, snow-tubing is also offered to round out your frosty fun!

All of the winter fun however doesn’t just take place outside, and if you prefer to cozy up by the fireplace, Mohonk will provide you that picturesque comfort!

Lastly, from November 27th through December 31st the Victorian Holidays series takes place. During this, events vary each week with activities such as walk-through winter lights display, holiday craft kits, pictures with Santa and so much more are offered. The holiday magic isn’t just limited to Christmas either! During Hanukkah there is a celebration at the resort for each night of the holiday, and the Menorah is lit each night by someone new. There is truly something for everyone within this series and is an amazing opportunity to experience the most wonderful time of the year!

Nature

Mohonk Mountain House is surrounded by nature. The half-mile-long Lake Mohonk is a glacial lake enclosed by forests. Guests can row-boat, canoe, kayak, and paddleboard around the serene body of water. There are beaches around the lake for swimmers to warm up after their refreshing dip and dramatic overlooks to soak in the glorious sight. Naturalist Michael Ridolfo leads guided nature tours and bird walks. Mohonk Mountain House guests have access to over 85 miles of trails for every level of hiker to explore the Catskill Mountains. The iconic Shawangunk Ridge provides intense rock climbing to those searching for a challenge.

Spa and Wellness

The award-winning Mohonk Mountain House spa has been an essential part of the Mohonk experience since its opening in 1869. Private sessions and weekend-long programs allow visitors to relax in numerous ways, utilizing natural herbs, minerals, and other resources available in the region. Meditation sessions, yoga, and fitness regimens are offered daily.
