Friedman’s Mindful Eating

With four locations spread across Manhattan, the closest to Amtrak and other tourists pulling into Penn Station is Friedman's Mindful Eating in Herald Square. Other locations can be found in Columbia, Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, and the Theatre District.

Friedman’s Mindful Eating in a family run operation that focuses on one motto, “Eat good food.” They believe that quote to mean two things, first being to enjoy what you are eating, and secondly be proud of the food you serve. Due to one of the original pioneers of Friedman’s medical condition with celiac disease they based the whole menu on being gluten-free. Not only are the ingredients gluten-free, but the all of the meat is antibiotic free, and their vegetables are all locally sourced.

Friendman’s prides themselves on being in contact with all the farmers that provide their ingredients and also has a menu that will make you feel good after eating a healthy meal.

“It’s one of your best bets for brunch.”

Weekend Brunch

It wouldn’t be a healthy, organic, gluten-free restaurant without an amazing brunch! Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and has a menu with something for everyone including meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans, and anything in between.

Friedman’s Mindful Eating claims that they have perfected gluten-free pancakes, waffles, and fried chicken, making for a perfect chicken and cheddar waffles dish, and if the chicken isn’t what you’re looking for you can substitute most things on the menu with tofu! Also be sure to try out the Sake Bloody Mary for a not-so-regular Bloody Mary experience.

A Gluten-Free Dinner

Some people are skeptical about “gluten-free” and worry that flavor might be lost, but it is almost guaranteed that at Friedman’s won’t take away any of the flavors or delicious goodness. If anything their fresh ingredients and creative meals, like the avocado mashed, or tamarind barbecue short ribs or even the falafel burger show that gluten-free does not mean less flavor.
