Five Islands Park is a 15-acre open space comprising five islands, allowing guests to get a break from the busyness of their lives while connecting with nature. Big and Little Harrison Islands are connected to Oakwood Island, the main island, from footbridges that constitute a 1.2-mile loop through the park to the Long Island Sound. Picturesque views can be seen from any direction while enjoying nature at Five Islands.

Facilities

On-premises is a restroom, children’s playground, pavilion, amphitheater, and fishing dock. A walking track joins the islands together, with a large grassy area on Big Harrison Island. The main island boasts a sunbather’s beach which does not allow swimming. Amenities offered for rent include picnic tables and benches, barbeque pits, and open-air pavilions. Guests will also find horseshoe courts and shuffleboard within the park.

Five Islands Park is the perfect place to go for a run or take a walk, visitors are greeted by nature while enjoying the scenery. Families can enjoy the morning with kids, groups can engage in sports for the afternoon, and couples can indulge in an evening picnic. Due to its quiet location, this park is an optimal location for celebrating birthdays and holidays. Patrons wishing to enjoy the Fourth of July fireworks or celebrate Father’s Day can do so in the beauty of this park. L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School is located in Oakwood Island, providing canoe and kayak tours of Long Island Sound for guests hoping to get a bit more intimate with the world around them. Downtown New Rochelle is visible from the park; sitting on Big Harrison Island is the ideal spot for watching the sunset over the skyline.

Access

Visitors must show a park passport or pay a daily parking fee. The park is open to New Rochelle residents only from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. During the fall and winter months, access is open to all guests.
