Storm King Art Center

A 500-acre open-air museum, Storm King Art Center houses one of the largest collections of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States.

Visitors can experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under the open sky. This major sculpture venue showcases works from some of the most acclaimed artists of the 20th century.

A Landscape of Monuments

Storm King Art Center’s dramatic landscape is integral to the experience. The property is made up of farmed fields, natural woodlands, lawns, native grasses, wetlands, and water. As Storm King’s collection has grown, its landscape has been gradually altered to accommodate and enhance the monumental pieces, frame vistas, and encourage movement through the site.

Storm King’s signature open fields boast 100 acres of native grass meadows and hayfields. The areas of tall vegetation and native plant species encourage thriving wildlife. Each work is sited with consideration of its immediate surroundings and distant views.

The Museums Virtual Program Offerings

Storm King continues to nurture a vibrant bond between their visitors, art and nature through their public and family virtual educational programs. In continuation of the center’s sixty-year commitment to art, Storm King Art Center is providing several virtual events and educational opportunities that promote individuals’ ‘limitless discovery,’ www.stormking.org.

Storm King Art Center is now offering virtual summer camps, art and nature installments, and collections of meditations, readings and performances inspired by Outlooks: Martha Tuttle. Each virtual offering includes various images, videos and hands-on explorations that promote the center’s commitment to supporting artists and its dramatic landscape.

More information about virtual offerings and educational programs can be found on the Storm King Arts Center website under the education tab.

“All the pieces are magnificent, very powerful and with a great deal of variety. A visit to Storm King is something everyone should do at least once-in-a-lifetime.”
