Saratoga North Creek Railway

The Saratoga & North Creek Railway boasts vintage rail cars that bestow passengers with a unique and stunning view of the Adirondack Mountains along the Hudson River.

Update: The Saratoga North Creek Railroad is no longer in service.

Farm-to-Table Dining

The Saratoga North Creek Railway recently launched a new farm-to-table dining experience, The Pullman Table Dinner Train. Menus featuring locally-sourced gourmet food and wine are served on the three-hour excursions in the refurbished 1950s dome car. Fresh-picked fruits and vegetables and artisanally-crafted cuisine make the Pullman Table Dinner Train a delicious way to travel.

Visitors to the state can sample New York specialties like fresh-pressed apple cider, award-winning wines and cheeses, and Adirondack maple syrup. The world-class offerings are served up by Chef Evan Hume, a veteran of the food industry with credentials from top-tier restaurants in Philadelphia, PA, Richmond, VA, and Martinsburg, WV. Saratoga North Creek Railway riders also have exclusive access to special bottles of Marquette and LaCrescent wines from Fossil Stone Vineyards. The dinner train also hosts special events, like a Father’s Day Brunch and a German-themed Oktoberfest menu.

“The Polar Express” and Snow Train

A winter favorite of the Saratoga North Creek Railway is the “Polar Express” and Snow Train. The diamond service dome car or the standard service’s wide windows provide stellar views of the Adirondack and Saratoga region. Adorned with snow, the mountains and hills just outside the Amtrak train transport passengers to a winter wonderland. Izzy’s Market & Deli serves a limited but tasty menu onboard, along with tea and coffee to warm riders during the winter months. Christmas-themed “Polar Express” rides, with special appearances from Santa, run from November through late December. Snow train rides are available Saturdays from January to March, taking visitors on a special scenic route.

Romantic Rides

The Saratoga North Creek Railway was recently selected by Travel & Leisure Magazine to answer to question “Why just get somewhere when you can make the journey as glorious as your final destination?” The romantic scenery, decor, and dining that the dome cars of Amtrak’s Saratoga North Creek Railway make the train itself a perfect getaway attraction. Sophisticated and nostalgic passenger service during the seven scenic stops between Saratoga Springs and North Creek elevates simple travel into a memorable experience.

“Riding the rails has never been so romantic.”
