John Boyd Thacher State Park

One of the many State Parks in New York offers activities year round for all people to stay entertained.

Spend your day surrounded by nature! At John Boyd Thacher State Park, you can enjoy the panoramic views of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys as well as both the Adirondack and Green Mountains. Sit back and relax or engage in some fun! The park offers volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and picnic areas.

Interpretive programs are also offered year round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. In addition to this, the park also provides guests with over 25 additional miles of trails, perfect for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. The park grounds are also perfect for camping, as it offers 140 campsites with the option for private wooded or open sites. From September 5 to October 29, the State Park will open the Wild Play Adventure Course, with 15 zip lines, 60 aerial games, and a 40-foot jump. The park’s Nature Center gives guests an indoor experience with exhibits, interactive displays and educational programs.

While entrance to the park is free, there is a $6 vehicle entrance fee.
