Immerse yourself in history when you stay in Hyde Park, the hometown of the 32nd President of the United States, and the setting for his infamous fireside chats. Roosevelt’s estate was established as a National Historic Site in 1945 and is maintained by the National Park Service. FDR’s home features a museum and guided tours and is the final resting place for both FDR and his wife Eleanor. As the nation’s first presidential library, it is also the starting point for the Roosevelt Ride—where one can catch a shuttle to tour Top Cottage, the home where FDR intended to retire as well as Val kill, Eleanor Roosevelt’s home.
Just north of the FDR Historic Site is Vanderbilt Mansion, one of the former homes of Frederick William Vanderbilt and his wife Louise. Pets are welcome at the Inn at Bellefield. Call ahead to receive approval. There is a non-refundable $150 pet fee per stay. Complimentary parking is available on-site. Breakfast is included in your stay, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 to 9:30 am and Saturday through Sunday from 7 to 10 am.
