The Everson Museum of Art

The first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art! The Everson, in downtown Syracuse showcases American paintings, sculpture, drawings, and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation.

The Everson Museum of Art

Through dynamic and meaningful encounters with modern and contemporary American art, the Everson Museum of Art engages diverse communities, inspires curiosity and lifelong learning, and contributes to a more vital and inclusive society.

I.M. Pei designed the Everson Museum of Art to be a grand sculptural object sitting in a plaza, surrounded by the forms of the modern city. Many consider the modern structure to be a work of art, too.

Current Exhibitions

Pick & Mix (through May 5, 2024)
This is actually a cornucopia of five fabulous exhibitions under one banner. Pick & Mix highlights the vitality of the Museum’s mission to gather works that document the ways that artists draw inspiration from their cultures, as well as the ways that artists give back. Ceramics are an ideal lens to examine the gender roles, politics, and material culture of any given moment

Off the Rack (through December 31, 2023)
As hundreds of paintings and framed works are displaced from their racks while renovations take place, the public has an unprecedented opportunity to view objects that have been in deep storage for years, never-before-seen recent acquisitions, and some perennial favorites — all hung together salon-style in our exhibition galleries.

Faceted Wrap by Derek Porter (permanent exhibit)
Derek Porter is a multi-disciplinary designer working in architectural lighting and product design, where he focuses on the use of light within various scales of the built environment.  His work considers subtle aspects of human perception and the presence of light within spatial contexts. This exhibit transform the Kilburg Family Staircase into a brilliant, light-filled space.
