Cohoes Falls
New York State is home to a plethora of gorgeous waterfalls. For many, witnessing these beautiful feats of nature is a tranquil activity unlike any other. While New York is partially home to the breathtaking Niagara Falls, other scenic waterfalls can be found throughout the state. The Capital Region hosts some of its own amazing waterfalls, including Cohoes Falls, which is right outside Albany.
Cohoes Falls is home to a glorious view and is set upon a 4-acre park. From May 1 to Nov. 1 the Falls View Park is open from Dawn until Dusk. These hours are most optimal during the summer.
Over the course of the 4 acres that there is to explore in the park, it is divided up into an upper and lower level. The upper level is where the park entrance is located and includes a 192-foot bridge for the public to walk over which overlooks the falls. If you’re interested in making a day trip, be sure to pack lunch and eat within the park’s designated picnic area.
There are places to hike and explore for those who like seeing everything. On both levels of the park, there are plenty of places to spot fish! The fishing platform on the lower level is accessible by a staircase.
Also, not too far from Falls View Park is the Cohoes Overlook Park which is open year-round. So Cohoes Falls can be observed and admired no matter what the season.
