NYC Pride

This summer, join together with others to celebrate Pride in New York City. Find support and empowerment for the strength displayed by those who have and continue to be discriminated against for their identity. Each year’s Pride events commemorate the Stonewall Uprising of 1969 — the beginning of the modern Gay Rights movement.

New York City Pride 2024: Reflect. Empower. Unite.

Every year, millions of people travel to New York City in order to relish in the events of NYC Pride. This year’s theme is “Reflect. Empower. Unite.” which was chosen to highlight the importance of the NYC Pride MArch as the intersection for Queer liberation and joy. This theme seeks to encourage individuals to reflect on the challenges they have overcome together and continue to empower them to take action for the future of all members of the LGBTQ+ community, its allies, advocates, and beyond. At a time when the United States can be quite divided, this theme strives to emphasis unity and its importance to all of us. NYC Pride seeks to illuminate the good that can and has been accomplished through uplifting and supporting one another.

The Pride March

The annual Pride March begins on Sunday, June 30th at 11:00 am from 25th Street and 5th Avenue. The march is made up of mostly non-profit groups supporting different LGBTQIA+ causes. While marching, you’ll pass by the Stonewall National Monument and the New York City AIDS Memorial. The inaugural March took place in 1970, one year after the Stonewall Uprising. This year’s parade marks the 55th anniversary of this historical moment in time. Over the years, the purpose of the March has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to illness, violence, and neglect. Join others in the streets as they march to celebrate their lives and their resilient community. This event is free for all participants.

PrideFest

On Sunday, June 25 at 11:00 am, you can attend PrideFest in the Greenwich Village. This annual LGBTQIA+ street fair combines exhibitors, food, and activities for a day of fun and celebration in the name of equality. PrideFEst also brings incredible talent from around the world performing live music at StageFest
