The Ethan Allen Express goes up the west side of this small state, making several stops, including in the sophisticated town of Middlebury before depositing visitors at historic Union Station in Burlington. This funky three-college town, perched on the shores of Lake Champlain, is centered around the Church Street Marketplace, a bustling pedestrian mall with funky shops, outdoor cafés serving up farm-to-table feasts and seemingly an endless stream of street performers.
