    Discover the Adirondacks

    Set on 115 acres in Tupper Lake, The Wild Center combines a natural history museum with outdoor adventures throughout the Adirondack landscape. Inside, visitors can explore 54,000 square feet of exhibits, meet live animal ambassadors and catch films in the Flammer Theater.

    Outside, explore woodland trails, the Fen Trail, Forest Music and the Wild Walk, an elevated trail that takes visitors into the treetops.

    A wooden treehouse structure with a shingled roof connects to a large artificial tree trunk via a metal suspension bridge, surrounded by lush greenery and autumn foliage reminiscent of the natural beauty found in Devil’s Hole State Park.

    Wild Walk & Outdoor Adventures

    One of The Wild Center’s signature experiences, Wild Walk takes visitors above the forest floor on bridges, platforms and treetop structures. The outdoor campus also features the Pines Play Area, Stickwork, Raquette River Roll and Forest Music.

    The one-mile Fen Trail offers a more relaxed way to explore the property, with a compacted gravel surface and gentle grades.

    Meet the Wildlife

    The Wild Center is home to a variety of Adirondack animal ambassadors and offers daily opportunities to learn more about the wildlife that calls the region home. Visitors can watch otters at Otter Falls, meet animals during Creature Features and attend scheduled animal talks throughout the day.

    Inside, exhibits including the Hall of the Adirondacks, Planet Adirondack and Climate Solutions explore the region’s wildlife, environment and relationship with the natural world.

    Plan Your Visit

    General admission is $28 for adults, $26 for seniors and military, and $15 for youth ages 5–17. Children ages 4 and under and members enter free. Reservations are highly encouraged, particularly during busy periods and special exhibitions.

    The Wild Center also offers a café and gift shop, making it easy to spend several hours exploring the museum and outdoor campus.

    July & August: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily
    September & October: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily
    November–March: Friday–Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    Experience The Wild Center by taking Amtrak to the Adirondack region and continuing to Tupper Lake by car. The Wild Center is located at 45 Museum Drive in Tupper Lake, approximately two hours from the Albany area by car.
