    A Historic Home With a Dog-Friendly Twist

    The Paw House Inn has welcomed dogs and their humans since 2001. The property is housed in a historic farmhouse that dates back to 1786, with much of its original character preserved alongside modern comforts. Today, the inn is designed specifically for travelers who want their dogs to be part of the vacation.

    Guests can choose from individually designed rooms, suites and dog-friendly cottages. Accommodations feature comfortable furnishings, custom dog beds, smart TVs, Wi-Fi and access to kitchenettes. Some rooms also include fireplaces, soaking tubs and mountain or countryside views.

For times when dogs need their own space, Mario’s Bunkhouse provides a private, climate-controlled area where overnight guests can leave their dogs in the inn’s care while exploring the area.

    A Vermont Breakfast

    Each morning, the Paw House serves a home-cooked, made-to-order country breakfast featuring fresh Vermont products. Guests can enjoy everything from freshly baked muffins and omelets to the inn’s signature “woofles.” Dietary accommodations, including gluten-free and vegan options, are available with advance notice.

    Take Amtrak to The Paw House Inn

    Travel to Rutland, Vermont, via Amtrak’s Ethan Allen Express, which provides daily service between New York City and Rutland. The Rutland station is located at 25 Evelyn Street, and The Paw House Inn is a short drive away in West Rutland.

    Bringing your pup along? Amtrak allows small dogs and cats weighing up to 20 pounds, including the weight of the carrier, on eligible trains.
