Whiteface Mountain is the fifth-highest mountain in the state of New York, and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Whiteface Mountain is home to one of the best ski experiences the East has to offer. Simply put, this mountain offers more of everything: snowmaking, expert terrain, long rolling groomers, and the longest single intermediate run in the Northeast: the 2.1-mile long Wilmington Trail. This massive mountain has the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies, as well as trails stretching over 22 miles and three snowy peaks. You won’t want to miss the one-of-a-kind learning opportunities, adventures, and off-mountain attractions. The host of two Winter Olympics, at Whiteface Mountain you can bobsled down an Olympic track, enjoy groomed Nordic skiing, or go on a stroll through the lakeside Olympic village. Make sure to check out two of the newest trails on the mountain: Ausable Run and Yellow Dot. After a long day in the cold, take some time to enjoy the various food selections. In the summertime, you’ll find great activities and adventures for the whole family at Whiteface Mountain. On the scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Rides, glide through the air on a fifteen-minute ride in the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountain range. Whiteface also offers several hiking trails, from forest-covered paths to open trails. Take in native wildflowers and foliage as you summit the highest peak, or hike through trees, rivers, and waterfalls on trails suitable for every ability. For those who love a competition, Disc Golf is the perfect activity for all ages and athletic abilities. Experience a nine-hole course that utilizes the lower portion of Whiteface and play around some of your favorite trails! No matter the season, you’ll want to take in the amazing panoramic views of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains from Whiteface’s peak. In the fall, take a drive up the Veterans’ Memorial Highway to the summit of Whiteface for breathtaking views of Adirondack fall foliage!

How to Get to Whiteface Mountain

Take Amtrak to Lake Placid with bus connections to High Peaks Resort (LPD) or Olympic Center Visitors Bureau (LPA). You can purchase a single ticket from Amtrak including the bus connection which is available from Westport Amtrak station in the Adirondacks. Use Amtrak’s See New York and Save 15% discount!

Many of the hotels and venues in the Lake Placid area also include shuttle service with your room or the price of admission, like the Whiteface Mountain Valley Shuttle.
