Revolution Rail Co.

Pedal a railbike through forests, along the Hudson River and over a spectacular trestle bridge at Revolution Rail Co.

Many people can say that they have biked in the Adirondacks or have taken in the beautiful views, but fewer can say they have railbiked on a stretch of the Adirondack railroad that never saw passenger traffic. Revolution Rail Co. is a hidden gem of the Adirondack Mountains that allows visitors to do just that! With two scenic routes to choose from and no age restriction, this is the perfect opportunity for all ages to take a peek at the wildlife and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature both along the Hudson River and through the forest canopy.

The North Bridge Run takes railbikers through seven miles of the railway right on the Hudson River and through the forest. The highlight of this tour is the trestle bridge that crosses over the water. Offered daily at  10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., this exhilarating experience will already have visitors planning their next trip back to Revolution Rail Co. During the busy season, tours are also available at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The South River Run is a new option that offers varied terrain along the banks of the Hudson for an unforgettable nine-mile trip. Railbikers will have the opportunity to see the North Creek Railroad Station, which is where the trip begins. This tour option is offered each day at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Visitors pedal their way through the tour at their own pace, although tours usually last about two to two and a half hours. There is an option for a tandem or quad bike, which cost $86 and $149, respectively. Infants can ride along in a front-mounted child carrier, and young children can have a seat of their own with an extra safety harness. Revolution Rail Co. encourages visitors to bring their cameras as well as water, snacks and items to protect from the weather such as sunscreen. If there is a chance of showers, bring your rain gear as tours are offered rain or shine!

“I have been going to the Minerva/North Creek area for over 40 years and have never had an experience like this… peddling a rail bike through the Fall woods along the Hudson River on a spectacularly beautiful day was just what my soul needed!”
