With six levels worth of unique educational attractions, the Ontario Science Centre is sure to beat any science class you’ve ever taken. Each floor of the museum features something new to be discovered: on the first level, get a hair-raising experience (literally!) by toying around with the museum’s famous Van de Graaff generator; on the fourth level, take a trip into space with a show in the planetarium; on the sixth, stroll through the a rain forest or participate in a live papermaking demonstration.
Be sure to check out the museum’s two special exhibits, “MindWorks” and “Dinosaurs in Motion,” which allow visitors to practice mindfulness and self-reflection and engage with life-sized dinosaur sculptures built from recycled metal. The museum’s IMAX Dome, equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, features films that combine science, culture and thrilling adventure. During one of the center’s various live demonstrations, science comes to life with the help of interactive and animated investigation, experimentation and collaboration.
The learning adventure doesn’t stop when the trip is over, though: the Ontario Science Centre also offers specialized programming and events, from kid research and solar observation to adult science forums. Museum members and first-time-visitors alike can sign up for online DIY Science Fun modules, Facebook Live events and virtual sensory workshops. Whether you visit the Ontario Science Center in-person or online, expect the unexpected: that is, learn a lot, and have fun while you’re at it!
