Sitting on over 400 acres of land, Niagara Falls State Park provides the perfect backdrop when visiting the historic Niagara Falls. The beautiful landscape includes 15 miles of hiking trails, a garden and stunning views of the Falls. There are a wide variety of hikes, many of which start at the Niagara Gorge Trailhead Center. One of the most challenging trails is the Whirlpool rapids Adventure Hike; it’s three-hours round trip and you can plan on doing some boulder hopping. It’s recommended for experienced hikers who are at least eight years old.
You can also take an elevator into the Niagara Gorge to discover the remains of the former Schoellkopf Power Plant, which collapsed into the water in 1956.
