Nestled deep within the Eastern Adirondacks, The Deer’s Head Inn offers sophisticated American fare and a charming tavern atmosphere.
Originally opened in 1808, The Deer’s Head Inn is one of the oldest taverns in the Adirondacks. Throughout its long and storied history, the inn has served as a hospital for troops injured in the War of 1812 and as an illicit liquor cache during Prohibition. Famous visitors to the inn include U.S. Presidents Benjamin Harrison and Grover Cleveland.
In 2016, The Deer’s Head Inn was revamped as a restaurant and inn. This historic location features tavern dining and a rotating, seasonal menu, with a team that is passionate about using local and sustainably produced foods.

This farm-to-tavern restaurant is dedicated to providing the best in local and regional cuisine. From cheese sourced from nearby Asgaard Farm in Au Sable Forks, to brandy supplied by Gristmill Distillers in Keene, Deer’s Head is proud to promote local growers and makers. The inn’s menu includes a variety of boards, featuring curated selections of local cheeses, produce and meats. For entrees, the menu offers an eclectic mix of pasta and seafood dishes plus classics like the “1808 Burger”, featuring local beef. The best way to enjoy your meal is paired with a signature cocktail. The menu offers a variety of unique drinks such as the “Getting Figgy With It,” a concoction of Bar Hill Gin, lemon, honey and fig jam.
The inn hosts annual holiday events, including a New Year’s Eve Party. Check its website for the most up-to-date info.
The inn also offers a variety of cozy lodging options!
