Utica’s oldest summertime celebration is back this year with sidewalk art, great music, and exhibitions to dazzle the public eye.
The Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Festival
Visit the festival on July 27 – Aug. 1 free of charge and see a wide array of fine art all while partaking in activities and workshops over the course of the week. The festival will include live music, sidewalk art, mural painting, antique autos, and much more.
At the festival, you can enjoy a variety of fun, artistic experiences. This Sidewalk Art Show hosts live performances and fun activities for children. The Big Ol’ Steamrollin’ Print Invitational and the Antique Car and Motorcycle Show are also available for viewing during the festival.
Museum of Art
You can also experience a special tour of the Museum of Art. The museum features beautiful exhibitions and education programs for kids, teens and adults. Also at the museum is an art library, stress-relieving yoga, the PrattMWP College of Art and Design and a collection that displays 300 years of American Art.
Each year, the festival warrants a People’s Choice Awards where an artist’s work is chosen for each category. People’s Choice Awards categories include Oil & Acrylic, Photography, Watercolor, Prints & Drawings, Mixed Media, Sculpture and High School.
Alongside the People’s Choice Awards of the festival is the Juror’s Choice Awards, which is chosen by a Museum of Art staff member. The staff member chooses 20 of the best pieces. The winners’ works can consist of a variety of mediums.
