The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society in partnership with the Stewart House invites you to Magic on the River, for the annual summer fundraiser. HALPS is bringing the wonder of magic to the beautiful Hudson River waterfront for an afternoon like no other.
For 152 years, the Hudson Athens Lighthouse has stood in the middle of the river through blizzards, ice, changing tides, and generations of people who looked out and knew they were home. One of only two remaining mid-river lighthouses on the Hudson, it is more than a landmark; it is part of our shared story.
But even the most enduring landmarks cannot preserve themselves.

Every single ticket sold helps fund our critical mission. Proceeds from this event directly support the daily operating costs, community educational programming, and the vital, ongoing structural restoration of the lighthouse.
Lineup of Entertainment
The Afternoon’s Spectacular Lineup Includes:
- Live Music: Atmospheric and spellbinding sounds from the Dust Bowl Faeries.
- Performances: Fun and amazing magic by master magician Jim Snack, and captivating mime and character work from actor and comedian Peter Daniel Straus.
- Food & Drink: Delicious hors d’oeuvres and summer cocktails created by the The Stewart House wizards, Chef Rachel and Audrey Lent, alongside fine wine from Hudson-Chatham Winery.
- Premier Silent Auction: Bid on incredible items and services from our wonderful local businesses.
