Art in the Park Annual Summer Festival
In its 60th year, enjoy this annual set of Chaffee Art Center’s fine art & craft festival.
Summer Art in the Park
The 60th annual Art in the Park will be hosted on August 14 and 15 at Main Street Park in Rutland, VT. It lasts from 10 a.m. on the 14th to 5 p.m. on the 15th. The festival is a celebration of the work of fine artists and craftspeople, displaying handcrafted woodenware, clothing, pottery, jewelry, glasswork and more. This event also features live music throughout the day and has activities for kids. The festival truly has something for everyone to enjoy, with an estimated crowd of nearly 6,000 people over two days.
Chaffee Art Center
This outdoor festival is hosted by the non-profit Chaffee Art Center. Founded in 1961, the art center aims to preserve part of Rutland’s history and provides a resource for art education in Central Vermont. The art center sees this goal through with multiple exhibits and events. The most popular of these events is the festival. With the help of all of their visitors and vendors within the Rutland community, the Chaffee Art Center truly makes art a priority. In the fall, the Chaffee art Center hosts a Fall Foliage Art in the Park as well.
Art in the Park Vendors
The festival hosts a plethora of vendors selling crafts, art, clothing and specialty foods. Much of the art at the festival is visual with plenty of paintings, including oil, watercolor and acrylic. The festival supports talented local vendors selling their craftwork. Pottery, sewn items, metalwork, wooden crafts, glass and herbal products are just a few of the crafts sold at the festival. Multiple food concessions grace the event with various meal options for meat-eaters and vegetarians. Other delicious food options include the typical festival food, such as kettle corn, cotton candy and a variation of maple products.
