Step into one of America’s most historic folk music venues at Caffè Lena in downtown Saratoga Springs. Since opening in 1960, this intimate listening room has welcomed generations of musicians and continues to bring live music, community and culture to the Capital Region.
Caffè Lena opened in a former woodworking shop in 1960 and has become a landmark of American folk music. The venue has hosted artists including Bob Dylan, who performed there in 1961, as well as generations of established and emerging musicians. Today, Caffè Lena continues its tradition of presenting folk, roots, blues, jazz and other styles in an intimate setting.
Caffè Lena’s intimate atmosphere puts audiences close to the performers. Ticketed concerts generally open their doors 30 minutes before showtime, with seating assigned by the venue. Food and drinks are available before performances and during intermission, including coffee, tea, specialty drinks, desserts and light savory fare. The Caffè’s famous chocolate chip cookies have been served since 1960.
The calendar at Caffè Lena goes well beyond traditional concerts. Visitors can find headline performances, open mics, jams, poetry and storytelling events, children’s programming and music classes throughout the year. The venue also offers livestreams of many performances through Caffè Lena TV.
One of the venue’s recurring traditions is its Monday Open Mic, where performers of all ages and styles can take the stage.

Caffè Lena is located on the second floor at 47 Phila Street, with entrance through the courtyard between Solevo Kitchen and Sweet Mimi’s Cafe. An elevator is available for access to the second floor.
The venue’s business office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. Performance times vary by event, so check the current calendar before visiting. Tickets are available through Caffè Lena’s website, and the venue recommends purchasing in advance because shows can sell out.
