CENTRAL NEW YORK
Central New York is pure Americana: old-fashioned main streets in historic towns, quiet country roads, countless lakes for swimming and exploring.
Located in the heart of the state, the region is serviced by three Amtrak stations at Utica, Rome and Amsterdam. Venture into Cooperstown, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Fenimore Art Museum and Glimmerglass Opera. Go to the Utica Zoo. Visit the world-famous Erie Canal. Go deep underground and explore six million years of rock formations at the Howe Caverns. In autumn, you can board the Adirondack Railroad dome car for scenic views of the fall foliage. Foodies take note: you can tour the Heart of NY Craft Beverage Trail—which includes the world-famous Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown— the Central New York Cheese Trail and more. Need a bit of culture? Utica’s nearly 100-year-old Stanley Theater-or “movie palace” hosts live performances year-round.

Roaming through limestone corridors, vast galleries and beneath colossal boulders, I’m 156 feet below the earth’s surface in a cave, six million years in the making. With strange formations, flowing sheets and dripping stalactites, the solid rock walls appear fluid-like….Click to Read More
