What is The Morgan State House Inn

Overlooking historic Washington Park, and just a short walk from the New York State Capital and Lark Street, the Morgan State House Inn invites guests to step into history. Originally built in 1884, this New York-style mansion has an intricate facade that takes inspiration from 19th century Japanese architecture. The Morgan State House acted as the lifelong home of Alice Morgan Wright, who resided in the building from 1888 until her death in 1975. Wright was an activist and key figure in the women’s suffrage movement, helping to create the League of Women Voters of New York State in 1921. Wright was also a renowned artist, becoming one of the first sculptors in the U.S to incorporate elements of abstract art and Cubism into her work.

The Morgan State House was eventually transformed into this sophisticated 4-star inn. Providing modern conveniences as well as historic charm, this hotel is sure to be a home away from home for travelers who value quality. With an ideal location that acts as a gateway to Albany’s businesses, museums, entertainment venues and Capital Building, this inn is the perfect urban getaway.

A cozy bedroom at the Morgan State House Inn features a neatly made bed with an upholstered headboard and patterned pillow. Two armchairs flank a window with blinds, while a lamp sits on a nightstand. A mirror hangs above the bed, and the walls are painted in a soft yellow hue.
