Located in Leeds, New York, a quaint hamlet in the town of Catskill, Casa Susanna is a 2025 semi-finalist for the James Beard Foundation Awards and serves up haute-Mexican cuisine in an exciting atmosphere.
The brainchild of Chef Efrén Hernández, Casa Susanna offers a unique twist on traditional Jalisco-style delicacies. The restaurant’s eclectic menu was crafted with the Hudson Valley’s wide array of local farmers and cultivators in mind, since its menu changes seasonally and sources local ingredients. Tortillas are made fresh in-house!
The restaurant itself is conveniently attached to Camptown Hotel, which offers cabin stays for those who want to linger a bit longer. Casa Susanna continues the Catskills summer camp vibe with a cozy, 1970s inspired, log cabin-style interior and stone fireplace.
A must-visit destination for foodies, Casa Susanna does not disappoint. Drawing inspiration from his own family tradition, Chef Hernandez experiments with unique flavor pairings and new techniques. As a nod to tradition, many of the menus’ meat and vegetable dishes are cooked via wood firing. Signature dishes on the menu include the Smoked Goat Birria Tatemada and the Duck Breast Black Shallot Mole. In addition to delicious food, Casa Susanna also offers a full bar, featuring classic Mexican cocktails and plenty of Tequila. The dishes at Casa Susanna were designed with sharing in mind, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a weekend getaway to the Catskills with friends.
Brunch is offered with a distinct menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm.
