Racing at the Dawn of the United States is a specialty exhibit on display at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs. In recognition of our nation’s 250 birthday, it explores the history of thoroughbred horse racing from its inception in the colonial period to the emergence of the United States as a new republic in the early 19th Century.
What is Racing at the Dawn of the United States?
Racing at the Dawn of the United States is an exhibition that invites visitors to learn about the early history of the sport, highlighting key figures, races and horses of the time. It features selections from the Museum’s collection and is enhanced with loans from Keeneland Library, the New York Racing Association, Cate Masterson and Charles V. Wait.

How to Experience Racing at the Dawn of the United States
The Museum is open daily from 9 to 5 pm through September 7.
Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for students, and children under the age of 5 are free.
After September 7, the museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4 pm.
