What to Expect at The U.S. Open 2020
Experience some of the most elite golf players this September at the U.S. Open Championship at the Winged Foot Golf Course. However, due to COVID-19, there will be an all-exempt field and no audience attendance. As a result, the USGA has chosen to schedule 108 local qualifiers in 45 states and one in Canada. Furthermore, 12 final qualifiers will then take place where those chosen to play in the championship will be selected.
About Winged Foot Golf Club at The U.S. Open 2020
Winged Foot Golf Club is a privately owned course established in 1923 by members of the New York Athletic Club. Famous golf architect A.W. Tillinghast designed the club, along with others such as Suburban Golf Club and Shackamaxon Country Club. Due to this, the club has a history of hosting national championships on their East and West 18-hole courses. Additionally, Winged Foot West was ranked 11th in Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Courses Ranking in 2019. As a result, this location is ideal for hosting the U.S. Open 2020.
