Looking to experience art while staying active? The Griffiss Sculpture Garden and Nature Trail in Rome, NY is an impressive outdoor collection of public works in various media. Of the 20+ modern pieces on display, several are interactive. Some of the art offers seating as part of the design, and others are lit using solar power.

The Griffiss Sculpture Garden is home to numerous sculptures, including a Vietnam Veterans Memorial section. A few of the more popular sculptures within the park are The Birth of Venus by Lucia Warck Meister and Contemplating Sisyphus by Katarina Issksson. All of the sculptures are both thought provoking and imaginative. While some of the sculptures are bright and colorful, others flaunt darker shades. The art is great for interpreting or getting the perfection Instagram photo.

With so many distinct sculptures on display, you’re bound to find something new and creative at every turn. Most of the park is paved, making the park an easy walk or scooter ride. The paved paths make the sculpture garden wheelchair accessible as well.

If you’re interested in being immersed in the beauty of art and nature, be sure to check out the park’s nature trail. On the trail, visitors can explore the area and enjoy Rome’s natural beauty. A map is available for viewing at the park to locate sculptures and follow trail markers. Many of the sculptures can be found along the trail to allow for an even more immersive artistic experience.
