Taste NY, a program put together and launched by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2013, exposes regional culinary and craft beverage delights to the rest of New York. Taste NY allows companies from across the state to showcase their products at festivals, rest stops, sporting events and now on 13 snack cars on New York Amtrak trains.
The partnership was announced at the beginning of October, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo expressing his excitement about the new cooperative: "Through the Taste NY program, these great products are getting more and more exposure across the state and around the globe." He continued, "This exciting new partnership means that the approximately 1 million people traveling on these Amtrak lines will be able to experience for themselves some of the best products New York has to offer."
The products that will be available on the train are:KIND Bars of New York City; Always Bagels of Bohemia, Long Island; Chobani Yogurt of New Berlin; Sweet Sam's Coffee Cakes of the Bronx; Brooklyn Defender IPA of New York City; Ommegang Witte Wheat Ale of Cooperstown; and Nine Pin Cider of Albany.
Nine Pin Cider Works Co-founder and Cidermaker Alejandro del Peral gave credit to all of the parties involved. He even talked about the beauty of New York. He said, "Through the leadership of Governor Cuomo and Taste NY, riders can now drink New York apples on Amtrak. Whether in Western New York, or along the majestic Hudson through the Hudson Valley, or north through the Adirondacks."
Without leaving the train, passengers will be exposed to some of the great cuisine and beverage that Taste NY has to offer. Riders can experience the best local brew from Cooperstown while riding past Cooperstown on the train.
Empire State Development Division of Tourism Executive Director, Gavin Landry, spoke about the benefits this partnership will have on tourism. He said, "By showcasing and sharing the finest food and beverages New York has to offer through this new Taste NY partnership with Amtrak, we will be giving, even more, travelers a reason to say, 'I Love New York!'"

With Amtrak and Taste NY teaming up, all of these companies will get more recognition from in-state passengers, out-of-state passengers, as well as passengers visiting from outside of the country.
Passengers on a wide variety of trains will get to experience the products of Taste NY. The trains that will be carrying the products are the following: the Maple Leaf (63/64), with round-trip service between New York City-Niagara Falls-Toronto; the Adirondack (68/69), with round-trip service between Montreal-Albany-New York City; Empire Service (280/281/283/284/288), with round-trip service between New York-Albany-Syracuse-Rochester-Buffalo-Niagara Falls; the Ethan Allen Express (290/291/292/293), with round-trip service between Rutland-Albany-New York.
Sweet Sam's Account Executive Eduardo Estrella highlighted the main goal of the new partnership. He said, “We're New York born and bred and proudly baked in The Bronx. Now wherever riders may go they can experience a Taste of New York along the way."
